Experienced Commercial Overhead Door & Dock Technician

Location: Greater Vancouver Area
Position: Full-Time
Compensation: $60,000 – $120,000 annually (commission-based)

About the Role

We are hiring an experienced Commercial Overhead Door Technician with 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial and industrial door systems.

This is a full-time, field-based position serving commercial, industrial, and strata properties across the Lower Mainland.

Technicians are primarily paid commission on completed work orders, with strong earning potential for productive, self-driven individuals.

What You’ll Work On

  • Commercial sectional overhead doors
  • Rolling steel / roll-up doors
  • Fire-rated rolling steel doors (drop testing & compliance)
  • High-speed doors
  • Loading dock equipment (dock levelers, truck restraints, seals & shelters)
  • Strata parkade doors & access systems
  • Commercial pedestrian (“man”) doors including:
    • Hollow metal doors & frames
    • Aluminum/glass storefront doors
    • Closers, panic hardware, magnetic locks
  • Operators, safety sensors, and basic access control integration

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and troubleshoot commercial door and dock systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Complete fire-door drop tests per code requirements
  • Provide repair vs. replacement recommendations
  • Maintain organized service vehicle and inventory
  • Participate in emergency/on-call rotation
  • Work independently or lead apprentices on site

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years commercial overhead door experience
  • Experience with rolling steel and loading dock equipment required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude (electrical & hydraulic knowledge is an asset)
  • Comfortable working at heights and lifting 50+ lbs
  • Valid BC driver’s licence with clean abstract
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Ability to pass background check if required by commercial clients

Certifications such as Working at Heights, Aerial Platform, Forklift, WHMIS or First Aid are assets.
